Sitting
on Old Loudon Road in Latham, you'll
find the Curtain Call Theater. But this
isn't your typical community theater
with a board of directors and volunteers.
It's run by founder Carol Max and her
employees.
Now in their tenth year, she's says
this venue has actually exceeded her
expectations.
"I think we started with 50 subscribers
and we've grown to nearly a thousand,"
said Max.
And with the recent tough economy, it's
hasn't been smooth sailing for many
organizations, especially the arts.
But the Curtain Call is far from their
last call.
"I really think it's that we're
close to home, the quality is good,
people really know us, they trust us,
we'll take some risks and do some things
that they've never seen before,"
said Max.
Or to balance things out, they also
take on familiar territory. For example,
their current production is a take on
the classic "The Odd Couple."
"There's a real relationship going
on between Oscar and Felix and between
the boys and their wives and I think
this production tries to bring out that
there's real depth to these characters,
not just a lot of laughs," said
actor Victor Cahn.
